__S U M M A R Y : The second event to take place at Khyle Alexander Raja's 'Soul In The Machine', Radical Notions : On The Edge Of Muslim Art, brought together three cutting edge artists in a live Q&A, preceded by a gallery tour with Khyle and spoken word poet David J Pugilist. The tour brought David J's lucid poetry to the fore with four live recitals, embedded within an interactive exploration of key drawings.
An open Q&A followed, where Khyle was joined by artists Soraya Syed and Mohammed Ali / Aerosol Arabic. Each panelist shared a recent or live project which pushes the boundaries of Muslim artistic expression in a short 10 minute presentation, which was followed by a discussion and debate with our audience, chaired by Huffington post columnist Tam Hussein.
This much needed discussion focused on the experimental boundaries of Muslim arts, inspired by faith but not directly 'Islamic', the taboos faced by Muslim artists and the need to value quality art forms in an age of cheap, mass produced imitations from classical forms.
